Parkside Christian Adventist School is a State Integrated Seventh-day Adventist Primary School. The School was established by the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Churches in the Hawke’s Bay and was officially opened as a private school on Sunday, February 5, 1978. The School was Integrated under the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act on January 28, 1993. The school is co-educational catering for new entrants to year 8.
The community of the Parkside Christian Adventist School is not defined by geographical boundaries. Rather, it encompasses the community that it serves. This includes the Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Hawke’s Bay who originally established the school, as well as members of the Christian community of Napier and Hastings, who have chosen to send their children to the school because of its special character. The school has a tradition of valuing the support and input from the wider Christian community it serves.
The School is governed by the Board of Trustees and the land and buildings are provided by the proprietors, The New Zealand Seventh-Day Adventist Schools Association Ltd. This body, which owns all Seventh-day Adventist Schools within New Zealand, jointly shares, with the Board of Trustees and the school's management, the responsibility for ensuring that the Special Character of the school is maintained.
